6 Months

I was  going to write more about the mommy groups on Friday, but a blog post didn't happen yesterday.  It literally takes me all day to write these sometimes.  When trying to post three times a week, I'm just going to have to give you what I can.  I'm trying to stretch out what I talk about. First was - I went to a button shop.  Next will be - Here are the buttons I bought.  Then - Here they are sewn onto something.  Mix it in with some mommy group posts, lame posts like this one, knitting catch up, and whatever else I start to come up with, I should be able to get you three posts a week. crosses fingers

 Chicklet @ 6 Months
LG turned 6 months yesterday.  Yeah!  She is obsessed with putting stuff in her mouth.  In Sophie's absence, this poor little duck has been getting most of it.  But if she can, she likes to put paper. lemons, books, sunglasses or anything else she manages to grab in her mouth before mom takes it away.  We really need to find Sophie.

I don't think that there is much hope in finding Sophie.  Even though I put our last name on her in permanent marker.  I checked the lost and found at the lagoon.  I back tracked the walk from the last known location, twice.  Sophie is a very popular toy with the babies and very cute, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone took her home.  Darn it.

Button Hunting

Shhh... I'm hunting buttons.  At least I have been for the last few months.  I knit up two very cute Baby February Sweaters for the girls a while ago.  They are wearable without the buttons, but really need to have some on them.  I've searched the yarn shops.  If they had something in the right color, I didn't like it.  I looked at the craft stores.  They had the right color in cheap plastic or character buttons.
 $1 a dozen buttons
The real problem is that back in April I visited a cute little vintage shop.  I came across some really pretty, purple buttons, but did not buy them.  I had bought the yarn for the Baby February Sweaters at the time, but hadn't knit them yet.  I was working on my Tulip Cardigan that used the same yarn.  That was my big mistake.  I couldn't get those buttons out of my head and no other button would do.
 Their ribbon selection
This button shop is also very far away from where I now live in San Diego.  It's in Fullerton, as is by Disneyland.  I looked into button shops in my area.  I could only find one in southern San Diego.  I called the shop, they are open four weekdays and only 3 hours at a time.  They also told me I should call before driving down just in case they decide to take the day off.  How do they make money?  I guess they make all their money off the website, which didn't have any buttons I liked either.
One day I'll have a reason to buy German Glass Glitter
So it looks I was going to be taking a drive to Orange County.  We made a day of it, took both the girls with me.  I met Senora Fuerte for lunch.  A blogging buddy of mine then joined us for button shopping.  Then we headed to another friend's house to play and go out for dinner.  Orange County is fun.

This shop is worth it if you are ever in Fullerton, see link above.  They are a trimmings shop and have buttons, ribbon, jewelry beads, and various items that you wouldn't ever expect to see in any shop.  It has a real Victorian feel.  I definitely recommend swinging by if you scrapbook, too.   Plus there is a delicious sandwich shop in the plaza.

Chicklet is feeling much better from her mini-cold.  However, I now have a bit of a cold myself.

In worst news, we lost Sophie.  Sophie the Teething Giraffe, our favorite teething toy.   You can see her here on Christmas morning.  It's just her backside, but Sophie looks good from any angle.
We went for a walk on the lagoon on Sunday.  Chicklet dropped Sophie on the ground, so I put her in the under stroller basket.  When we got home, there was no Sophie to be found.  Today I walked our route to the last known location, but no Sophie on the sidewalk or trail.

Did I mention that we are really bummed about this?

Salesmen

I really hate door to door salesmen.  With their fancy meats and wonder car cleaning products.  Does it look like I care how clean my car is?  I can't remember the last time that I washed my car.  They always seem to come when I'm trying to get out of the house.  I think that the simplest way to deal with them is when I hear the doorbell ring, I'll run upstairs, open a window and yell "Go Away."  This may be the best defense since they took special training course on how to sucker a frazzled mom with a baby in arms.

Okay, I've only been suckered by one salesman since staying at home.  But we had another one this weekend and DH opened the door.  They walked away with $20 and we got these.
I love Girls Scout Cookies.  How could we not buy them?  They only come around once a year and the Samoas are so good.  And you have to get some Thin Mints.  This year the Girl Scouts have a new cookie, Berry Munch.  They're berry good.  A crunchy and chewy at the same time cookie.  Little pieces of white chocolate and dried cranberries.

Once again, the door-to-door salesgirls got us.  At least when I go to the grocery store, I can honestly tell the outside-the-supermarket salesgirls that I have some at home.

As far as the little one goes.  We are under quarantine for the next couple of days. LG has a low fever and  very runny nose.  This adds up to lots of snuggle sleeping on mom's chest.  But I'm not complaining and she was still up for a fun game of peek-a-boo.
