It's Time, It's Time!

And the winner is....

Well, here are all of the contenders.
Let's see, we'll just cut all of these up.
Put them into the jar. Mmmm. Smells like Raspberry Lemonade. What!?! Haley is asleep. We have a contest to run here. I'm just gonna have to do this myself.

Pick a name, pick a name. It's Mike. Hey, and he knits, too. How exciting.

Mike, you need to email me so I can just your address and send you your yarn!

And the winner is....

...Going to be announced at 6pm tonight.

I should of picked a day that I wasn't working to finish this giveaway.

I counted up all the votes late last night. If you were torn between two, I just counted both your votes. There were 25 comments, 1 comment on another post, and 1 vote casted by phone. The Chicken came in first with 15 votes. So I changed over the layout late last night and added some of the widgets.

Voting is closed but there is still time to enter the drawing for the giveaway if you haven't yet. You have until 5pm Pacific time. Then Haley is going to draw the winner.

Earthquake

We just had an earthquake. It was centered about 30 miles-ish SouthEast of us. A 5.8 magnitude. That was rocking Chino Hills up pretty well.

I just had to share. It's always cool to be completely sober and you can't stand still

because your rocking back and forth. I think that may be the true reason you are suppose to stand in the doorways. Keep you from looking drunk because you are holding onto the doorway. hehe.

Now I get to go home and check to see if all the shelves are still up.

----After lunch check up-----

My house seems to be the same mess that I left it in this morning. Darn that earthquake for being so clean.

Sweet Lemons!

I got my dishcloth swap package on Saturday. And boy does Bridget have this swap thing in the bag. Really. I love my package and all of the bright colors in it. It is nice having something in the house that isn't pink. It's a lemon/lime/orange theme complete with lots of lemony treats. Haley keeps begging me for a Lemonhead, but I know as soon as I give her one, she'll go running for the trash can. I couldn't waste a Lemonhead like that. She's also already tried to steal the bag. I had to chase her down to get it back. Bridget made me a washcloth set. The green and white yarn was hand dyed by herself. It looks like she used teenie tiny size two or three needles to make the yellow and orange dishcloth. I think Bridget is the most wonderful person. There were some fun little items, too. A nail file with sheep, I promise not to use it to sharpen any of my bamboo needles. Yummy smelling lavender soap in a yarn mold. It's from one of her local farms and is made from goat's milk. And the "Eat Cheese Or Die" button. I think that was my motto when I was pregnant.

Now I hate to admit it, but it seems that Bridget is from Wisconsin. That would be California's arch nemesis in the cheese making world. Okay, really, California can't even try to make as much cheese as Wisconsin both in quantity or variety. But our cow commercials are pretty funny ;);)The rest of the goodies were some Lemon Cake, ingenious to send cake, Lemon Tea on the Go, and two balls of 100% cotton by Garnstudio from Norway. Her LYS is one of the few US shops that carries it.

Bridget -- Thank you, thank you , thank you so much. I love it.

Five minutes later.......

I just noticed that every shot has the pink yarn in it. I guess in our house we just can't get away from it. We are just too girly. And I do love pink.

Beach Day

More weekend fun. Skye has a doll of a niece. Her name is Briana and she's from NoCal. She came all the way down to celebrate Haley's birthday with us. And she stayed one night with us. After that she decided that we were way more fun than Grandma's house and she'll be flying into LAX from now on. We did keep her entertained though. Between the party and the fair, and then we decided that the beach had to be on the agenda, too. It gave Skye and me an opportunity to play with the new camera. Using the beach feature. It's suppose to keep the glare out and keep from having dark silhouettes.Using the night sceanary feature at the fair. These were actually right after dusk.Of course, it wouldn't be playing with a camera if yarn weren't involved. The super duper closeup. This is the first frogging of the camera bag.It was a very tiring weekend spent mostly in the sun. Then work was beyond crazy for the next four days. Now that I've caught up on the blog and the emails, I'm ready to start all over again.

Haley's Birthday Too

It was Haley's birthday last week, too. Well, actually all three of our birthdays are in the same week. So, it is a very busy week for our family. Haley hasn't had a big party since she turned one. That was more for me than her anyways. This year, she turned 5 years old and we went all out for her. There was a bouncy house, croquet, horseshoes and everyone dressed up for a Princess Picnic in the Park.It was a lot of work to get ready for this party. I don't think that I spent too much on it, either. For instance, I baked the cake myself. It was fun. Chocolate cake with strawberry filling. We had grand ideas of tiers and polka dots. That didn't happen though. Haley had a great time and there are lots of presents. We got a lot of things that she had asked for. She's been keeping me busy with various board games and Hannah Montana sing a longs. Being 5 is exhausting. The celebration never stopped for the whole weekend. Various family members got together for lunch after the party. Skye and I were able to escape for a romantic dinner at McCormick and Schmicks for his birthday. A few friends that weren't able to make the early party time joined us for the afternoon. That was spent at the Orange County Fair. I just had to share this little guy. He's an Angora goat. He looked so hot and like he could really care less how excited I was about his wool.

Thank You

Sorry that I haven't blog for a week and a half. Life has been crazy around here and when it finally slowed down, all I wanted to do was lay on the couch and play Star Wars on the DS.

Thank you everyone for all of the birthday wishes. I've had a lot of fun seeing how all of the voting on the new backgrounds is going. Some of you have had a hard time picking a best one. You can see why I was so torn to choose one myself.

I don't have too much progress to show you as far as knitting goes. It took me a whole week to make this.
Pattern: Camera Bag Using the stitch pattern form Roza's Socks
Yarn: Leftover wool from Natalie

It's a camera case for the new camera that my husband got me for my birthday. He's such a sweetie. This camera has lots of fun features and brings us up to a little more modern times. The bag was murder to make. First, I tried to use left over cotton/silk yarn. The I ran out of yarn. So, I frogged back and added a white stripe with other cotton. That looked retarded. So the whole thing got frogged. Then I found this wool yarn. I was binding off and somehow had dropped three stitches and had to frog back an inch. Grrr. I'm still thinking about putting a soft cotton liner in the bag to protect it a little more.

I'll catch you up to the rest of my busy week later this weekend and just leave you with this for today. I thought it was cute.

Birthday Giveaway

Today is my 30th Birthday. I figure it is time for a fresh start. Not, I'm not having a crisis or anything, though I do plan on turning thirty for the next three years. I'm actually looking for an excuse to finally have a giveaway.

I've been wanting to change the layout for my blog and have been working on some samples for a while. I was going to do this for my first blogivarsary, but that didn't happen. So, here is my excuse to finally have a giveaway. I've made it three whole decades and still have all my toes and fingers.

So here is the deal, you get to pick my new background. Each of them have two sidebars that I plan on filling up with cool stuff. It's just too much work to fill in all those widgets for three blogs that aren't going to be picked. So they are a little plain, but you can get where they are going and how cool they would be. Here are the choices:

  • Template I The Chicken - I was trying to go for something to show off my blue chicken. I feel like that is what makes me recognizable (do you see it over there, on the left?). I've actually received a lot of emails wondering where that chicken came from. I believe it's Kool-Aid.

  • Template II The Sheep - Keeping to the classic. These have the sheep that range freely. A picture that I stole from one of my sister's friends' trip to England.

  • Template III Blue/Grey - This one is neat because the two sidebars are on the same side. It's cool and simple.

  • Template IV The Flower- Oh, and here is the two bars on the one side in white with a flower. It goes a little more with the pink and blue colored chicken theme.
So, what is the prize you wonder. It's beautiful yarn and some really cute stitch markers. I was trying to keep to the pink and blue of my chicken avatar. The yarn is one skein of Malabrigo Lace in Cuarenta and cute little stitchmarkers by YouAndMeAndBead.

If you don't knit, please still vote I will give you an alternative prize.

Well, all you need to do is leave a comment telling me which background is your favorite. Don't forget to say who you are so that I can tell that it is you. Leave a link to your blog if you have one. The background with the most votes wins.

Then check back on July 31st to see the winning background and if you won. The winner will be randomly picked out of the comments regardless of vote.

Self Portraits

Haley and I had a little fun with the camera at a party we were at a while ago. I was trying to get a cute Mommy-Daughter picture, but Haley wasn't having any of that. This is her current favorite face to make. You may of seen it before. What's that!?! She just turned into a tiger!Okay, sure, I'll join in the fun.Oh, I wasn't suppose to do that. Finally.

Mini Scrubby Loofahs

Here is some knitting, finally. I actually knit all of these up before Indiana Jones walked into my life. The last of the ends were sewn in about twenty minutes ago. They are smaller than your regular sized washcloth. Cast on half the stitches and knit half the length.

I figured this way I would get four scrubbies with the same yarn that would make one big scrubby. Because really, if you had one of these for everyday of the week, that is a lot of yarn. They were also very fast knits.
Pattern: Mini Scrubby Loofahs
From: From the Right Side of My Brain.
Yarns: Sugar n' Cream Cotton and Himalaya Yarns 100% Aloo.

I like the green/brown/white ones. They remind me of Italian ice cream. What's it called, spumoni? Here's one of the white cotton minis. I was able to get two of these out of the leftover yarn from the big scrubby I made before.

Lego Brain

I've been a little caught up in something other than knitting. I know it doesn't seem possible, but it's happened to me. I would almost say that I am obsessed. Okay, maybe that is a little bit too far. I'm just excessively preoccupied with a video game. A few video games actually. We got LEGO Indiana Jones Wii a couple of weeks ago. It is way fun. Then SkyeGuy got me the DS version. In case you have ever wondered, the two games are completely different. Something about graphics and data space. They both follow the same stories, the movies. But they use different scenes and the play is changed to use the touch screen.

I finally have figured out a strategy to playing the LEGO games. Now I have to go back and finish playing the LEGO Star Wars DS. Plus, I totally want the Wii version. Instead of being two different games, it's like one really big game.

I can't stop playing. As you can see, H
aley has an opinion about her Mom hogging all of the game consoles. She wishes I would just work on the Wallis Cardigan.

Addison and Zander

Teddy A and Teddy Z are happy to announce the arrival of Addison and Zander. They were born on Saturday, June 28th.

Here is Addison.
She was 5lb. 15oz. Very happy and very hungry. Haley plans on teaching her how to be a princess ballarina, be fashionable, wear sparkles, and to boss everyone around. Here is Zander.
He was 4lb. 3oz. He had a tube to help him breath the first day, but it came out on Sunday. He's very happy and sleepy. Haley plans on teaching him how to play waterguns, checkers, be fashionable and to boss everyone around. Those are just monitors on both the babies. Heart rate and things like that. They should be home this holiday weekend, so I plan on having more pictures. And adding a lot of baby sweaters to my queue. These kids are just too darn cute.
