Monkey Socks IV

Here I am finally with a knit. I had to finish these up so that I could use the rest of the yarn to make something else.
Monkey Socks IV. Yes, I've made three other pairs of these. The first pair was suppose to be for myself, but they didn't fit, so the BFF has them now. The next two pairs went to Haley and my MIL. So, I finally have a pair for myself. These are actually the third in a matching series for the us girls. Can't you see us now? Hanging out in our matching socks, roasting chestnuts and singing carols. Fa la la lala lala la la.

I thought that the monkey was such a fun and fast pattern that I could use it for gift socks. There are a few friends and family whom have asked. Others have been begging. And once I finally decide to make them I could use this pattern. This process usually takes two years. Now I've decided that I need another quickie pattern. Suggestions? Cause I am so taking a break from the monkeys for a while, but have another gift pair I need to make.

I took these pictures in a hurry to get them up on the blog. It was a little tough to show off ankle high socks without showing off leg hair stubble.

I'm Back

Thank you everyone for the warm wishes and the prayers. They were both much appreciated and used.

It's been a very busy week. I jumped on a plane and spent 4 days with family that I hadn't seen in too long. I was good for all of us and there was a lot of joy and love that filled up our time, considering the circumstances.

My flight home was arranged so that I could be picked up from the airport at the same time as family on my husband's side. I've been busy with them ever since and am now ready for a nap.

Maybe after I catch up on the 300 posts in my Google Reader. Seriously, there are 300 exactly. Okay, 78 of them are from Craft Magazine and 51 of them are from lolcats and will take 5 minutes to browse. But there are 23 posts on the blogs that I always try to comment on.

Either way, I'm home and will share what knits that I can with you. The rest have to wait until after they are gifted at Christmas.

Thanks again everyone for the comments and I'll see you around soon.

Going Away

Hello readers!

I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to post for the next four or more days. I'll be going out of state for a family funeral.

When I get back, I imagine that I will have knits to share with you. Gotta make lemonade out of all that airport time.

I can keep up with my email and read your blogs from my phone. I'll try to comment on my down time at night, but no promises.

Wish me luck with all that traveling and we could sure use your prayers .

See you all soon and thanks for reading.

Really? You Are Killin' Me

I was going to write this post before lunch time. I was too hungry though. It was time to head back to El Pollo for a BRC. I get one about once a week and for $1.50 you can't beat a lunch like that. You have to ask for extra beans. Otherwise it is all rice and I just hate that.

Oh yeah, blog post. I was going to post that the moving van people were innocent, and I'm just crazy, but then I saw this. As I was pulling on to the street, you would not believe what was parked outside the yarn shop, again. A white moving van. Do they read this or something? Decide to torture me and trade the blue moving van in for a white one? This time it was parked on the street. I think that it is a little less conspicuous looking that way. If I had never seen the blue truck and only this one, I don't think I would of had even thought twice.
I guess that is what happens when I skip going to the bank over the weekend and need to deposit my check/get quarters on my lunch break. When I decide not to go to Sion's for lunch like I really wanted to, but am saving my Mexican food craving for when I can go out with my husband. Okay, that's a nice thing to do. But also, when I decide not to go home for lunch and save money. Because everything except for the bank are in the opposite direction and I never would of seen that darn blue moving van.
Instead I am being tortured with all of these moving vans. It turns out that it has something to do with the Reliable Plant Service and trees. Seriously, you need two moving trucks worth of trees. Are you building a park or donating them to the elephants that apparently are no longer going to be at the LA Zoo? What do you need that many trees for? Oh, I know. To torture people that have nightmares of their local yarn shops being robbed clean by guys with moving trucks.

I guess this is what happens when you work across the street from the yarn shop. Well, not directly across the street. Here I'll show you. Here is the view from the front of our office.See it? Right there. Way on the other side of the street. I'll zoom in.See that little awning just above the 600 sign. That is the second floor of the building that my yarn shop is in. And also the offices of the Reliable Plant Services. That has so many trees, you have to have moving vans to buy them.

I Tried To Stop Myself

I just realized that I forgot to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope that everyone had a wonderful time with your families. Also, thanks a bunch for the comments on my little quandary. It seems like a foggy area, depending on your view. In the end, this one is my heavy modified version of Louisa Harding's pattern. And by calling it that, I don't answer my own question. I will give anyone the pattern, as long as they own the book. Cause, I just feel better doing it that way. I'm not going to make any promises about the future though.

Speaking of the future. I'm not calling myself an Oracle or anything, I just sometimes know stuff. Stuff that I shouldn't know. Stuff that hasn't happened. What? It's not like I see dead people or anything. Here I'll give you an example.

A friend of mine lost her wedding ring and was very upset about it. I told her I would try to dream about it and see if I could figure out where it was. You would be surprised to know how many things I have found by telling myself to dream about it. We almost did as a joke, but still hopeful that the ring would be found.

That night I had a dream that I was standing in a bedroom. I was on the far side of the room and the bed was in front of me. The door was to the left and a table lamp was to the right. Directly in front of me, across the room, was the closet door. Also, the light from the lamp was not illuminating the room, but rather shining into the closet.

Turns out that I described the basic layout of her room, which I have never been in. I told her all I could think of was that the ring was somewhere in the closet. She found it a couple of months later. In the pocket of a pair of her husband's shorts. A pair of shorts that were tossed into the back of the closet.

A little too "whatever" for you?

I've also had crazy deja'vu. Like knowing that someone died before I got the voice mail. Or another time back in high school. ...

I was going to a guy's house to .. ummm... study! Yeah, we will call it that. Okay, honestly I don't remember why I was there. What I do remember was that upon walking in his house I had an image in my head about a monkey in the corner and that his closet wasn't really a closet. It was a 5 foot tall wall that separated the changing area/closet from the rest of the room. Turns out he had a giant stuffed monkey on a hammock hanging from the ceiling and the coolest closest ever. It was a short little wall separating it from the rest of the room. No door or anything. Just a little wall.

Okay, so now that we have established that I'm weird. That or I have a thing for closets. But hey Joseph had weird dreams and he ended up running Egypt.

So my latest.

A couple of months ago, I had a dream. I was driving my Dad to LAX. We took Sepulveda instead of the freeway. This means that we were driving right past my local yarns shops. As we were driving by, I saw a white moving van parked right in front of the yarn shop. She doesn't have a back door, but it is off of the main road a little bit. Turns out in my dream, the were unloading the shop into the van. They were stealing all of my yarnie goodness.

Today, on my lunch break. Guess what I saw. I moving van backing up into the skinny little driveway of my LYS. Hello! Freak out.

Okay, it was blue van not a white van. But what are the chances that there would EVER be a moving van parked in front of my LYS and that I happen to see it while driving by?

I tried really hard not to think to hard about it. I went back to work and ate my chicken teriyaki bowl, listened to a little Dr. Laura. But I kept thinking about all of those woolly yummies being done forever because of some jerk in a moving van. Plus, we went to lunch early. I went to the bank, got some quarters, drove through Jack-in-the-Box, ate and still had 25 minutes to burn.

That's it. I'm going to El Pollo for an ice cream cone and the vantage point to get a picture while waiting in the drive through line. You so know I did it. I tried to stop, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I took a picture of that darn moving van. Hey. If my yarn shop gets robbed. I got a license plate number baby. I blocked that out just in case they are actually innocent. Of course, that would mean that I really am, just a little bit, crazy.

I'm not saying that I am psychic, but I so called LOST way back in the first season. I said that they were in a time continuum and that the island could sense what they wanted and manifest it. Like when John Locke's dad showed up on the island and Ben said that the island was a like a box that would give you what ever you wished for. Then the creators admitted that the island was in a space/time continuum. They all thought that I was crazy back then, but I was right. I could of died a happy woman at the end of season three.
