Idaho Animals

Here's a little more from Idaho. These are three animals that I made for my BFF and her kids. It's one of the first patterns that I made that had a shape that wasn't square. When I started making them I bought a ton of eyelash type yarns to make some for everyone. In the end there are only five that were made and I'll probably never make this pattern again (the other two-link link). I had mailed these off before the days of blogs and Ravelry, so they never got a photo shoot. BFF sent me pictures of two of them and those have been on Ravelry. Here they are all threee together and rephotographed to match.

BFF's Kitty. That's why she has whiskers. She is also the only one that still has her ribbon. She has a little tail in the back that you can't see.ValleyGirl's Rabbit. Floppy ears and a rabbit poof for a tail. ValleyGirl couldn't decide on a favorite color, so I actually for a yarn the had all of her chooses; pink, purple and yellow. Finally, Tank's Bear. Loved this one. The color variegation is a really cool lemon, almost lime.

Chiquita's Trip

Trips always seem different through a kid's point of view. Moms focus on the driving and all the technical stuff. Kids just have fun. So here is Chiquita at the start of our trip. That's my brother in the background in one of two pictures that he doesn't have sunglasses on. Her traveling buddy and cousin.
Our first day there was boring hanging out doing grown up stuff and being put in front of the DVD player for a couple of hours. But that night we all went to dinner together.

Chiquita was in charge of photography. Here's looking at, well, Mom. There were pictures of the floor, shoes, t-shirts, the ceiling, items on the table, and a new cousin to play with. Here is the other picture of my brother without sunglasses on. I've always said that we look alike, but now I am beginning to question my eyesight. He does have the family eyes though. The next day was completely boring for Chiquita and requires very little commentary. Though we did go visit Great G&G at the Veteran's Cemetery.

The last day was the really fun day. Chiquita and my BFF's daughter, ValleyGirl, were glued to the hip. ValleyGirl had been waiting for a friend with a DS since she got hers at Christmas. The two of them played on the PictoChat feature for an hour. The boys were outside playing and the girls were texting, silently. It was the most quiet hour of the entire trip. All of the cousins came over for a barbeque. I had I bought water guns for them. They tried to squirt the dads who then retalilated with the garden hose. We changed clothes for a family picture. Somehow one of these didn't end on my camera? But the kids fixed looking cute about five minutes later with the sprinkler. It was a shame we had to put them back in the car to drive home that night.

A Little Thing I Did Last Weekend

Here I am blogging about last weekend, this weekend again. I spend so much of my life living in the past tense.

Last weekend was spent driving to Idaho. It was a quick trip, but a lot got done. You might remember, I was up there 6 months ago for a family funeral. My last remaining grandparent had died. I was meeting my siblings up there and we were collecting a few mementos of my grandparent's and other things. I was also visiting BFF and her family.

So, Thursday I jumped on the 405 at 12:18pm. I hit traffic at 12:22pm. Right after taking this picture, I illegally changed lanes into the carpool lane. I've done this twice in my life. The first time I got a ticket.I did make my way to Mojave by 2pm to pick up my brother and his family. The rest of the drive looked a little like this. We went through Bishop and got some beautiful views of the Sierras. As we drove by we wove to my DH. He took advantage of the weekend without the wife and backpacked in the Sierras with a few friends. It's nice to know that if it were ever needed, he could live off of granola and fresh fish caught from a lake.

We did get a few amazing shots along the way. Skizye is somewhere in there. A great sunset over a lake near Hawthorne, NV.The drive home a few days later looked a little like this. Same as before, only more bugs.
